Tehran: We Are Ready to Reopen the Strait of Hormuz if Washington Eases Military Pressure and Lifts the Blockade

Al-Taj News – Reuters quoted a senior Iranian official as saying on Tuesday that Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States eases military pressure and lifts the blockade imposed on Iranian ports.

The official said that the Iranian delegation participating in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York has full authority to revive the diplomatic track with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is participating in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, heading the Iranian diplomatic delegation, at a time when the repercussions of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran and tensions between Tehran and Washington continue.

Tehran seeks to use the General Assembly meetings to present its position on the conflict and defend what it describes as its rights and interests, while Qatar is playing the role of mediator between Iran and the United States on outstanding issues, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic.
